Seems beards have fallen out of style these days. From movie stars, to athletes, to the President, not a hair can be found further down than the ears. That’s rather sad really. Men should be proud of their beards. God gave you facial hair for a reason. To grow it! Read back through your Bible and try to find a man with no beard. You know why he doesn’t have one? He’s mourning! Are most American men mourning? Perhaps they are, for their beards!
You might not be growing one because your wife doesn’t like it. Ask her for a months reprieve from the razor and then see what she thinks. She might not know what to do with all that masculinity. She might, dare I say, like it.
Think you’ll be an outcast amongst the sea of clean shaven faces? So be it! You’ll never face the outright abuse that Joseph Palmer had to withstand. Apparently the mid 1800’s were a rough time for beards as well. They weren’t even going to let him take communion!
So listen, go ahead, explore your manly side and grow a beard. Moses would be proud.
